Mom and Dad-
How are things for you back home? I have been having so much fun out here. It has been the best thing to be back out here and it was a really good week. This week went by so fast, but I got your letter today. I know it is Sunday, but I saw Elder Jorgenson (his first companion and an office assistant right now) today and he let me get my mail then. Thanks for telling me what is going on. I always pray for you guys every night. So I got you covered on this end. About this week...
Monday (May 10th)
Well my P-day went really well. We played basketball and it is a lot better when you feel good and you want to play. But after that we came to our house and got dressed up and went out to eat. It was so nice to go out with the other Elders and just have fun. After that we went back out to our house and did wash and write letters to you guys and some other people. Then it was time to get back in to pros (dress clothes) and we had a lesson--it went OK. That was Monday.
Tuesday--
Well Tuesday was a fun day. I really liked it a lot and we always have DDM, which is District Meeting. It was such a good meeting, and it was all about "Good, Better, Best". So then we had an appointment again with Dave and he is the one with the mannequins. It is so fun--we go there and read the Book of Mormon with him. We go over there about 3 times a week and read with him. After that, we went to get dinner and just came home and ate at home. Then we had a team up with Brother Peterson and he has the coolest truck in the world! It is so fast and way nice. It is a GMC diesel. We went over to some other people's house. We taught them on faith. Then we went home and thought about burning a tie, but we didn't. Oh well, we are not allowed to do that any more. So that is why I really didn't do that since Pres. Reeves lives right down the hill from us. That would not be good at all.
Wednesday--
Well, Wednesday we had a lot of appointments, but when we got there a lot of them fell through. We did have one that worked out. One of the others was from the Ward Mission President and this one is a fully active member. After the lesson she fed us lunch and she is such a good cook and she is so nice. After that all we did was tract, didn't talk to that many people. It is really hard to tract here because everyone works to pay for the bills, so it is really not that fun at all. But then we had dinner. I think we came home and ate but I am not sure. I think I had some 4 day old pizza, but it was sure good for 4 days old. Then at night we went and saw some less actives and we went to read with this one family, but like always they were not home. But that's OK, it was getting late any ways. Then we went home and planned for the next day.
Thursday--
It was our weekly planning day. This is where you stay in until 2:00 to think about things. If you have any investigators, you plan for their lessons and think about commitments. Then we went to Dave's house. This is the guy that we go read with. He has a lot of health problems and I guess why he does is that he worked at a mental hospital, and a Viet Nam Vet had a flash back and just beat the livin' tar out of him. Then we went and got the bikes out and went for a ride around the park and talked to people. So that is Thursday.
Friday--
Tracted all day--that is all I can say. We did have one appointment with this family that is active for the Ward Mission Plan.
Saturday--
We went around and went to yard sales to talk to people. We talked to 54 people in two hours. We were on bikes and we found out that Riverside is just one big hill and is not fun at all! Then we had lunch with the Cards (not sure, can't read the name) and we were there awhile. They are the nicest people in the world. We got out of there at 4:30 and then went to Dave's again to read with him. The rest of the night we just talked and hung out with less actives.
Sunday--
We went to Church. It was a lot of fun, but nothing really cool happened. That's OK. Then we went tracting for the rest of the day.
In this letter, there is something that I had to tell you guys that happened to me with my studies.
Love you guys a lot.
Love, Elder Rice
